Pastors Biography At the age of twenty-two John Brewer was appointed by the late Bishop Carlis L. Moody Sr. to be his Assistant Pastor of the Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. He was the 2nd person to hold this position. Bishop Moody became heavily involved within the National Missions Department of the church, this resulted in me over seeing the well-being and safety of the church in his absence. Often times Bishop Moody could be gone for weeks at a time. In his absence I managed all of the various department ministries within the church as well as any situations that would arise. While under the Late Bishop Moody, I started the first Junior Church Ministry. This resulted in me putting in place Spirit filled staff to take on the assignment of ministering to the children each Sunday. The Junior church would start at the beginning of the regular services. This was a way to keep the children’s attention while ministering to them at the same time. As youth leaders we held street crusades where we went out into the community with open air services, marches and street witnessing. I serviced under the late Bishop Moody for twenty-one years. This is when I became. the Pastor and overseer of the Zion Temple Church of God in Christ. As a member of First Jurisdiction Illinois Church of God in Christ, I served in many areas such as Seminary Instructor for the Williams Robert School of Ministry, and as an instructor teaching students. Of the ministry, Administrative Assistant to the Bishop Ocie Booker and Superintendent of the Bishop Carlis L. Moody Memorial District. I am currently serving as the First Jurisdiction of Illinois Chief Security. I am responsible for the safety and care of the members as we gather for the monthly jurisdictional meetings. This position also requires that I ensure and supply safety for the members of the finance department and the transport of finances.
